How Microsoft Dynamics NAV Can Help In Supply Chain Management?

1.   Scheduling Functions – Microsoft Dynamics NAV (now available as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) provides users with an interactive visual production plan to better deal with production orders and capacities and to quickly react to any unplanned incident on the shop floor.

2.    Purchase and Payables – With basic payables module, users can maintain vendor tables, post purchase transactions in journals, and manage payables. Using general journal entries, you can create Vendor ledger entries and can also manage multiple addresses for individual vendors. With Microsoft Dynamics NAV, users can set up, post and print purchase invoices and purchase credit memos, as well as calculate invoice discounts automatically.

3.    Inventory management – Items that you don’t want to keep in inventory software can be stored as non-stock items and can be converted into inventory items when necessary. By posting directly to item ledger entries, users can increase or decrease the quantity of an item in inventory.

4.      Warehouse Location management – With Microsoft Dynamics NAV, typical warehouse activities that take place when goods are received and before goods are shipped, including putting items away, moving items inside or between warehouses, and picking items for assembly, production, or shipment, can be managed easily.

5.   Picking & Shipping - Shipping directly from the order is the simplest way of shipping something in Dynamics NAV. You can also use an inventory pick to ship the inventory in Dynamics NAV. The main advantages with this is that the user processing the shipments are using a simplified interface (the inventory pick) which is the same no matter what type of order that is shipped. The third option in Dynamics NAV is to ship using warehouse shipments. A warehouse shipment is supposed to represent something like a container shipment or a FedEx truck that arrives once a day and picks up multiple packages. Such a shipment can then be prepared in advance using a warehouse shipment. Dynamics NAV also supports multiple warehouse picks for a warehouse shipment. In addition, Microsoft Dynamics provides users with the tools to Drop shipments, Negotiate prices with vendors,    Manage the purchase order and purchase order return process & Automate the requisition process.
